The Lamorna Society promotes appreciation of the Lamorna Valley in West Cornwall, its literature, social and natural history and the many artists associated with it including those from Newlyn and St Ives.

1. The Lamorna Society was formed in 1997 following the exhibition of Lamorna Birch's work at Falmouth, in 1997. This was inspired by the biography of Birch, A Painter Laureate, by Austin Wormleighton (1937-2019), who became the Society's President until his death in 2019.

2. Lamorna Birch (1911) 'Its impossible to go out rabbit shooting any more because I find there's a woman artist sitting behind every gorse bush.'

3. Birch's grandson, Adam Kerr (1933-2016) was the Society's first  Patron. Here he raises a glass to the Society at one of the meetings at Lamorna.

4. David Evans (1938-2020), the Society's second Patron. David was the son of Gilbert Evans, who was land agent to Colonel Paynter, (one of the principal landowners in the Lamorna Valley).
